The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is expanding its fuel business with a third station in California’s Coachella Valley, adding a Cathedral City location less than two months after opening one in Palm Springs.

Agua Caliente Casinos, the tribe’s gaming enterprise, announced an Oct. 15 opening for the 24-pump station next to its Cathedral City casino at Highway 111 and Monty Drive. The enterprise describes it as the city’s largest fuel station.

The pumps-only location includes extended queuing lanes and illuminated signs that direct drivers to available pumps, according to an Oct. 9 announcement. Unlike the tribe’s other two fuel locations, it does not include gaming.

The expansion follows the August opening of Agua Caliente Fuel Palm Springs at Dinah Shore Drive and Lawrence Crossley Road. That property combines 24 fuel dispensers with a convenience store, beer sales and a gaming floor with 82 slot machines. Electric vehicle chargers were scheduled to open soon, according to the release.

The tribe entered the fuel business in December 2021 with its Rancho Mirage station across from Agua Caliente Resort Casino Spa. That location has 24 pumps, 750 square feet of gaming space and a Java Caliente drive-through coffee shop.

Agua Caliente Casinos operates casino properties in all three cities. The announcement did not disclose construction costs, projected fuel sales or employment figures for the new Cathedral City station.
