OWA Parks and Resort, a Foley, Ala.-based enterprise of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, has added new business partners. The resort now features laser tag, a sandwich shop and neon paddleboating, as well as a new team member leading further expansions.
The new businesses include outdoor operation Aura Adventures, laser tag business Neon Rebellion, Jon Smith Subs, and the Bikini Blini Bakery. Those operations join an existing hotel, RV resort, and the Tropic Falls water theme park.
OWA has also hired David Holmin as the new director of internal and leasing, according to a statement.
The OWA expansion comes as the Poarch Band continues aggressive economic development initiatives. In April 2025, the tribe completed its acquisition of the Birmingham Racecourse through Wind Creek Hospitality, marking a significant financial investment aimed at developing a world-class destination resort.
The tribe also continues expanding its federal contracting business with two major acquisitions in recent months. In June 2025, Poarch Creek Indians Federal acquired federal infrastructure services provider Street Legal Industries Inc., adding specialized environmental, health and safety capabilities. The deal followed PCI Federal's April 2025 acquisition of cybersecurity provider Superlative Technologies, which secured $78.8 million in Defense Department contracts from 2022-2024.
The tribe, the only federally recognized tribe in Alabama, said it generated more than $4 billion in economic impact across Alabama in 2023 and has created over 7,400 direct jobs in multiple states and the Caribbean.
