The Oneida Indian Nation has opened the first phase of its $400 million Turning Stone Evolution project, adding a 258-room hotel, a signature restaurant and a health clinic as it expands the resort's tourism, hospitality and convention business.
The first phase includes The Crescent, the resort's fourth hotel; Salt, a fine-dining restaurant scheduled to open July 22; and a Rome Health Convenient Care clinic serving employees, guests and the surrounding community.
Tribal leaders, elected officials and regional business representatives attended the June 19 grand opening.
“Today, the first phase of the vision for the Turning Stone Evolution comes to life,” Ray Halbritter, Oneida Indian Nation representative and CEO of Turning Stone Enterprises, said in a statement. “It is our boldest yet and a generational investment into the resort and our region.”
The Crescent includes 258 guest rooms, The Pantry café and Oneida Sky, a retail shop featuring handmade crafts, jewelry and other products created by Oneida Indian Nation members.
The project is scheduled for completion by Labor Day with the opening of The Grand Expo, which will double Turning Stone's meeting and convention space to 225,000 square feet. The expansion is intended to position the resort to attract larger conventions and business events.
